The Foster Care Association of the ACT is an organisation run by foster, kinship and respite carers for foster, kinship and respite carers.

We help with:

  • Individual advocacy - you are not alone, no matter what the issue;

  • Peer support - we understand because we are carers too;

  • Learning and training opportunities – this gives better outcomes for everyone;

  • Lobbying to improve the system – we want a quality system and best practice in the alternative home-based care system;

  • Ensuring the carer voice is heard – nothing about us, without us!

For media comment:

No media spokesperson has been appointed by the board. Please email FCA using Contact Us.

  • We are lobbying to improve interstate information sharing about babies and children at risk.
  • New Out Of Home Care contracts are being finalised  (February 2016).
  • As part of the changes to how Foster and Kinship caring is authorised in the ACT, all carers will undergo a review every 3 years.
